- Supplies elemental iron for hemoglobin synthesis, correcting iron-deficient erythropoiesis.
- Black Box Warning
- FDA-required iron warning (boxed on only some OTC SPLs, not an Rx boxed warning): accidental overdose of iron products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6; keep out of reach.
- Clinical Notes
- Iron supplement for iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia. GI discomfort, constipation/diarrhea — label advises taking after meals. Separate from oral tetracyclines by 2 h. Treat anemia under clinician supervision.
