Oxygen content: normal, anemia, and carbon monoxideCurve 1 of 2 · Q 1/5

Blood O2 content plotted against PO2. The top curve is normal blood (Hb 15 g/dL). Of the two lower curves, the sigmoid one that reaches higher is anemia with Hb 10 g/dL, and the one that rises steeply at low PO2 and flattens lower is normal-Hb blood with half its hemoglobin bound to carbon monoxide.

ABCDE

↑ O2 content (mL O2/dL) · → PO2 (0 → 120 mmHg)

Point A is normal arterial blood (Hb 15 g/dL) and point B is arterial blood from a patient with Hb 10 g/dL, both at a PaO2 of 100 mmHg. How do their saturations and contents compare?
