Blocks the intestinal NPC1L1 sterol transporter → ↓ absorption of dietary/biliary cholesterol → ↓ LDL.
Clinical Notes
Add-on to a statin when LDL goals aren't met (modest further LDL lowering; IMPROVE-IT showed added benefit). Generally well tolerated; rare myopathy/transaminitis when combined with a statin.
