Thionamide (Antithyroid)

Drug Class: Thionamide (Antithyroid)
Mechanism of Action (MOA): Inhibits thyroid peroxidase and blocks peripheral T4→T3 conversion.
Black Box Warning: Severe hepatic injury and acute liver failure (some fatal or requiring transplant).
Clinical Notes: Reserved for the first trimester of pregnancy and thyroid storm. Agranulocytosis; ANCA-associated vasculitis.
