Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Inhibits xanthine oxidase → ↓ uric acid production.
Clinical Notes
Chronic gout urate-lowering — not for acute flares (can trigger one; cover with colchicine/NSAID). Allopurinol hypersensitivity/SJS (HLA-B*5801); avoid with azathioprine.
