- Competitively blocks histamine H2 receptors on gastric parietal cells → ↓ acid secretion.
- Clinical Notes
- GERD/dyspepsia; antisecretory onset within 1 hour, but PPIs are preferred for erosive esophagitis. CNS reactions in the elderly and in renal impairment.
