Drug Class: Prokinetic / Dopamine D2 Antagonist
Mechanism of Action (MOA): Blocks central and peripheral dopamine D2 receptors → ↑ gastric motility and antiemesis.
Black Box Warning: Tardive dyskinesia, which may be irreversible — avoid use beyond 12 weeks.
Clinical Notes: Gastroparesis and refractory nausea. Extrapyramidal symptoms, hyperprolactinemia; avoid in bowel obstruction and Parkinson's.
