Antiparkinsonian (Dopamine Precursor)

Drug Class: Antiparkinsonian (Dopamine Precursor)
Mechanism of Action (MOA): Levodopa is converted to dopamine in the CNS; carbidopa blocks peripheral conversion → ↑ central delivery, ↓ peripheral side effects.
Clinical Notes: Most effective Parkinson's therapy. Long-term motor fluctuations ('wearing off') and dyskinesias; orthostasis, hallucinations. Don't stop abruptly.
