Drug Class: Atypical (Second-Generation) Antipsychotic
Mechanism of Action (MOA): Antagonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors (plus H1 → sedation).
Black Box Warning: Increased mortality in elderly with dementia-related psychosis; increased suicidality <25 (depression use).
Clinical Notes: Schizophrenia, bipolar, adjunct depression. Very sedating; metabolic syndrome/weight gain; low EPS and prolactin.
