- Antagonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors (plus H1 → sedation).
- Black Box Warning
- Increased mortality in elderly with dementia-related psychosis; increased suicidality <25 (depression use).
- Clinical Notes
- Schizophrenia, bipolar; adjunct in depression (XR). Very sedating; metabolic syndrome/weight gain; little prolactin change vs placebo.
