- Inhibits the Na⁺-Cl⁻ cotransporter in the distal convoluted tubule → mild natriuresis; ↑ Ca²⁺ reabsorption.

- First-line HTN. Hypokalemia, hyperGlycemia, hyperUricemia (gout), hyperCalcemia, hyperLipidemia, hypoNatremia. Sulfa-derived.
