- Competitively blocks the aldosterone receptor in the collecting duct → K⁺-sparing diuresis.
- Clinical Notes
- Mortality benefit in HFrEF; also primary hyperaldosteronism and ascites. Hyperkalemia and gynecomastia (anti-androgen) — eplerenone avoids the latter.
