Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Prodrug (activated by KatG) that inhibits mycolic acid synthesis in the mycobacterial cell wall.
Black Box Warning
Severe and sometimes fatal hepatitis.
Clinical Notes
Active TB (combination) and latent TB. Give pyridoxine (B6) to prevent peripheral neuropathy. Hepatotoxicity; drug-induced lupus.
