Drug Class: Anti-Tuberculous Agent
Mechanism of Action (MOA): Prodrug (activated by KatG) that inhibits mycolic acid synthesis in the mycobacterial cell wall.
Black Box Warning: Severe and sometimes fatal hepatitis.
Clinical Notes: Active TB (combination) and latent TB. Give pyridoxine (B6) to prevent peripheral neuropathy. Hepatotoxicity; drug-induced lupus.
