Pathophysiology: Ascending infection (often N. gonorrhoeae, C. trachomatis) → endometritis and salpingitis.
Signs & Symptoms: Lower abdominal/pelvic pain, cervical motion tenderness, discharge, fever, dyspareunia.
Gold Standard Diagnosis: Clinical (cervical motion / adnexal / uterine tenderness) + NAAT; laparoscopy if diagnosis unclear.
First-line Treatment: Ceftriaxone + doxycycline (± metronidazole); treat sexual partners.
