Drug Class: Antiepileptic
Mechanism of Action (MOA): Blocks voltage-gated Na⁺ channels → ↓ neuronal excitability.
Black Box Warning: Aplastic anemia/agranulocytosis and serious dermatologic reactions (SJS/TEN, esp. with HLA-B*1502 — screen patients of Asian ancestry).
Clinical Notes: Focal seizures and trigeminal neuralgia. SIADH/hyponatremia; potent CYP inducer (autoinduction).
