Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Selectively inhibits presynaptic serotonin reuptake → ↑ synaptic serotonin.
Black Box Warning
Increased suicidality in children, adolescents, and young adults (<25).
Clinical Notes
First-line for depression/anxiety/OCD/PTSD/PMDD. GI upset, sexual dysfunction; serotonin syndrome; ~4–6 weeks for full effect. Taper to avoid discontinuation.
