Alpha-1 Adrenergic Antagonist

Drug Class: Alpha-1 Adrenergic Antagonist
Mechanism of Action (MOA): Selective α1A blockade relaxes prostatic and bladder-neck smooth muscle → improved urinary flow.
Clinical Notes: First-line for symptomatic BPH and medical expulsive therapy for ureteral stones. Orthostatic hypotension/first-dose syncope; intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (warn before cataract surgery); retrograde ejaculation.
