Drug Class: Fluoroquinolone
Mechanism of Action (MOA): Inhibits DNA gyrase & topoisomerase IV → blocks DNA replication (bactericidal).
Black Box Warning: Tendinitis & tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, CNS effects; may worsen myasthenia gravis; reserve if no alternative.
Clinical Notes: Strong gram-negative (incl. Pseudomonas) coverage; chelated by cations; not first-choice in children; generally avoided in pregnancy.
