Mechanism of Action (MOA)

Reduced to reactive intermediates that damage bacterial DNA, ribosomes, and metabolic enzymes.

Clinical Notes

First-line for uncomplicated cystitis. Concentrates in urine only — not for pyelonephritis; label contraindicates CrCl <60. Pulmonary fibrosis with chronic use.
